Members of Georgetown University’s “Magis Row” Living and Learning Community spent their Sunday morning at Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. Instead of a comfortable suite, however, the students found themselves in a annex storage space where they were, as usual, confronted with mountains of books. Led by Community Assistant Paola Urgiles and Hall Director Patrick Luckingbeal, the students (who had made a commitment to service as part of their living arrangements) had come together to help KEYS organize and sort over 2000 books donated by Borders of Fairfax as part of their spring book drive. After a few hours of work, the books were orderly arranged and packed in color coded boxes – ready to be sent to ten different organizations served by KEYS. The results were acknowledged and observed by Thomas Legner, General Manager, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts who generously offered the space for KEYS to coordinate assembly and distribution. He congratulated the students on their work and expressed his continued happiness at being able to support the community. Book Donations were contributed to:
For the Love of Children, Hope and A Home, 801 East Housing Assistance Center, Pathways to Housing, DC, Holy Trinity youth service project at Northwest Church Family Network, Woodley House, Northwest Center
HOYA Medical Clinic, and S.O.M.E. and St. Elizabeth’s.
