As an Allied Member of the Hotel Association of Washington, D.C. KEYS participated in the Go-Green Expo Event hosted by Brad Edwards, General Manager of the Renaissance Hotel. The invitation to join with other industry leaders who provide innovative solutions for protecting and safeguard our environment accomplished a KEY goal.

The event allowed KEYS an extraordinary opportunity to provide H.A.W.D.C. members more information about our system and to recycle an abundance of discarded linens into valuable, usable cotton. Our participation with the initiative also creates a steady revenue stream to support KEYS general operating expenses. This industrious effort reflects our commitment to using resources wisely and evidences a win-win green solution in our community.

With the support from Virginia Linen Service, Inc., bins and bins of discarded linen are collected and transported to Transworld Trading Co. in Baltimore. Over 12,000 pounds of cotton textiles were recycled in 2007, and generated over $1,800 in revenue. Read about our Green efforts here!
