In recent news, Mayor Adrian Fenty, awarded  The Mayors Environmental Excellence Award,  (http://ddoe.dc.gov/ddoe/cwp/view,a,1210,q,499621.asp), to the Fairmont, Washington DC. 

The distinguished hotel’s innovative, leadership practices  were also recognized by the Hotel Association Stars of the Industry Award for “Ongoing Special Event” Earth Day Clean Up. Among the long list of productive measures to conserve energy, monthly in-house team projects are implemented to increase awareness for protecting and safeguarding our environment and for promoting a genuine concern for the broader communities living in our Nation’s Capitol. Springtime brings us ‘down to earth’ in becoming more conscientious about living Green and it was a perfect season for the Green Team colleagues to “Tap their Inner Anrtist” by using a recycled, reclaimed, or reused piece of art to re-create an art project for the in-house Earth Art Auction.   The silent auction proceeds raised over $450.00 to assist KEYS in meeting daily organizational expenses and we are honored by their continued support!
