The experience of community leads many into service in recognition of the gifts we have and are able to offer one another. Communities are comprised of many partnerships, businesses and institutions, yet, at their core, they are a product of the shared interests of individuals. In April ’07, Jennifer L. Oakes, Project Manager of the renowned, Four Seasons Hotel, was awarded The Stars of the Industry Award by The Hotel Association of Washington, D.C. There are over 110 Members and thousands of potential nominees, and her selection is worthy of our applause!
Over the past 10 years, as a guest of the Four Seasons, Jennifer has always, always graciously welcomed KEYS with warmth, courtesy and respect. Her attributes of understanding, patience and many kindnesses admirably describe her genuine, authentic nature in loving humanity. By her volunteer commitment, clearly, she is motivated and guided by passionately held goals, beliefs and principles that are imbued in intangible qualities, yet visibly demonstrated in safeguarding and protecting the lives of those in need.
Jennifer currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors, and as a founding board member, she is an outstanding example of a volunteer leader and business professional who demonstrates a philanthropic concern for others. Challenges are to be expected with the start of a new non-profit yet we are proud of the significant accomplishments in the life of KEYS. In-deed, the expertise of a Project Manager is a tremendous asset to our organization, as our activities require a large-hearted response to benefit systemic change in transforming the lives of the poor. Her time, expertise and direction is greatly valued as it represents a model of corporate investment in the community that is recognizably affecting homeless services in substantial and meaningful ways! It is evident that the impact of her efforts are making a vital difference in the Nation’s Capital!
The many Letters of Support received by KEYS from other service providers share our deep appreciation to Jennifer: “Thank you for helping us to meet our goals, and for restoring hope; thank you for your compassionate action in caring for others, and thank you for making a difference in supplying our residents with these necessities”.
In closing, a toast to Jennifer on this well deserved recognition: “For builders bold and whose vision is more than brick or stone, you laid in hope foundation sure, with hospitality the cornerstone; make us all contributors to years beyond our own.”
